I've been waiting for this series for a long time, and it's finally out! So naturally I bought it (With the box) and it lived up to my expectations - being from the creators of Lain and NieA_7, I expected it to be freakishly weird, but it is fairly easy to follow along with. If you could keep up with Lain, this is no sweat.

I bought this DVD mainly because of the original story and the friggin awesome character designs. At first I thought it was about angels and whatnot (Because the Haibane have halos and wings) but they're actually just some unknown race that co-exist with humans in a small town that they are enclosed in. The plot is quite original actually, although the characters are pretty stereotypical.

I believe each dvd comes with a pencilboard, I got the first DVD with the box and got 2 pencil boards. The booklet that comes with it also gives you a lot of neat information on the characters and how the anime actually became an anime.

The story's somewhere along the lines of Love Hina (The characters remind me of it for some reason) and you can tell that the creators of Lain made it from how they look (which isn't a bad thing at all).

Look through the screencaps and other reviews before you decide to purchase it though, it's an "aquired taste" type of anime.

DVD Case Summary
In a long-forgotten walled town, humans coexist with the Haibane, angelic-like beings of unkown origin. Rakka becomes the newest Haibane, after she awakens from a strange dream and finds herself hatching from a massive cocoon. With no memories of her previous life, Rakka struggles to adjust to her new surroundings, however burning questions remain in the back of her mind. What is Haibane and what is their purpose? What lies beyond the huge, forbidden town walls? Thus Rakka begins her wistful journey of self-discovery and wonderment.
