Before this series was officially released in the U.S., my friend loaned me this series awhile back. After looking at the pictures off the Internet, and doing my research on it, Weiss seemed like a great anime. So we sat and watched the series (fansubbed) all in one night. I could not believe that this was same series that those pictures came from. The animation is almost appalling. You can easily tell that this was low cost film. The animation is inconsistent and half the time the characters don’t look like the same people.
Though the animation is bad, the music is outstanding. I immediately got hooked to the opening song, “Velvet Underworld”. It’s worth it to just go out and by the soundtrack even if you haven’t seen the series. I happen to own 2 soundtracks, and they are both awesome. A band consisting of Koyasu Takahito, Seki Tomokazu, Miki Shin’ichiro, and Yuuki Hiro, how could it possibly be bad?
The storyline is fairly interesting, at least it kept me hooked enough to watch the whole series just to see what became of the four florists / assassins in their struggle with the Takatori family.
All in all, I wouldn’t suggest this series to everyone, but I enjoyed it, even with all of its faults. I would tell anyone to just look at pictures and buy the soundtrack, skip watching the series unless you are a hardcore otaku.
